Bring the Joy

You know the saying, "Misery Loves Company"? Well it exists for a reason. If you whinge like a bandit over every little thing, the only people who will end up hanging out with you are others of the same dodgy ilk. Do you really want to hear other people whine like a piglet about the cost of a chocolate bar for the whole of the afternoon? No! You would rather put your head in a bin and sing embarrassing songs.

Bringing the joy attracts other joyous things and people into your life. So how do you bring the joy? You focus your attention on joyful things. For example, you can read a newspaper online but only open the "feel-good" links to good stories. Feel-good stories can be interesting topics and be good starters for positive and joyful conversations. For example, a new planet has recently been discovered that has two suns (however it has the life-threateningly boring name of Kepler-16b). The two suns orbit each other, and the planet in question. Two suns rise in the morning at different times (the first is the snooze-button sun, obviously and the second is the real wake up call). And then there are two sunsets at night, so a double opportunity for a boy to be romantic with his girl. If he misses the first sunset, then he can make up for it with a sneaky kiss on the second sunset (so boys have no excuse to be tardy in the romance department). It has occasional double-sun eclipses and it's just a short hop away at only 200 light-years from Earth. If there is water there, then life might exist. So the reason this is a good story for girls? With two suns girls could go there and get a double-tan! Telling a story like this will give people a buzz, and that's the result you are looking for.

A good way to always have something to say is to keep up with the news, but skim over the stories of war, poverty, and people dying. There will be plenty of discussion of these topics in the classroom, and at home with your family. So for now, focus on joyful stuff and that will make you attractive to other joy-oriented people.
